Rochester is located in northeast Oakland County, in the northern outskirts of Metropolitan Detroit area. Its neighboring companion city, Rochester Hills, surrounds Rochester. In addition to its own community life, Rochester is a quick 45-minute drive south to the heart of downtown Detroit, and is equally close to neighboring communities just north, east, and west, which all boast smaller-town communities and activities.
Children who live here attend Rochester Community Schools, which boasts an astounding graduation rate of 93.14 percent, with 95 percent of graduates attending post-secondary schools. Recently, two of the district’s high schools, Rochester Adams High School and Stoney Creek High School, ranked in Michigan’s top 20, according to the annual U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools list.
Both Rochester University and Oakland University were founded in next door neighbor, Rochester Hills, and the universities continue to grow each year.

Our historic, walkable downtown speaks to our roots, with several buildings dating back to the late 1800s!
