Where is Rochester?

Rochester is located in northeast Oakland County, in the northern outskirts of Metropolitan Detroit area. Its neighboring companion city, Rochester Hills, surrounds Rochester. In addition to its own community life, Rochester is a quick 45-minute drive south to the heart of downtown Detroit, and is equally close to neighboring communities just north, east, and west, which all boast smaller-town communities and activities. 

Schools in Rochester

Children who live here attend Rochester Community Schools, which boasts an astounding graduation rate of 93.14 percent, with 95 percent of graduates attending post-secondary schools. Recently, two of the district’s high schools, Rochester Adams High School and Stoney Creek High School, ranked in Michigan’s top 20, according to the annual U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools list.

Both Rochester College and Oakland University were founded in next door neighbor, Rochester Hills, and the universities continue to grow each year.

A highlight of Rochester is its Downtown community, which besides its small business shopping and dining options offers incredible community events year round. Rochester is a popular community center, featuring more than 350 shops, restaurants and other local businesses! Our historic, walkable downtown speaks to our roots, with several buildings dating back to the late 1800s! This small community also offers many opportunities for recreation, from local parks and walking/running/bicycle trails to the beautiful Paint Creek, which flows through our downtown.
